We all have challenges  in life but I think this shows how lucky we all are and how the issues we complain about are really minor compared to what others are facing. I think it puts life in perspective.

The strength shown in the face of adversity and to talk about the bright future ahead for all in the room when you have no future at all is simply unbelievable.

After this speech, which was meant to be one of his most happiest days and the start of a new life , he was taken back to hospital which he will never leave. The words of the speech and the delivery are inspiring

A week before a prize-giving ceremony at an all boys school in New Zealand, the head boy was told he has cancer and had only weeks left to live.

Jake Bailey left his hospital bed and donned his uniform again to deliver his speech at Christchurch Boy’s High School despite being diagnosed with Burkitts non-Hodgkinson lymphoma – and brought his classmates to tears.

He said:

“I wrote a speech and then a week before I was due to deliver it they said, you’ve got cancer,”

“They said if you don’t get any treatment you’ll be dead in three weeks. And they told me that I wouldn’t be able to come and deliver this speech here tonight”.

‘None of us get out of life  alive, so be gallant, be great, be gracious, and be grateful for the opportunities you have. The opportunity to learn from the men who walked before you and those who walk beside you.’
